Cedar Falls Fireworks Went Off With a Boom! $10,000 Prize Won!

July 4th, 2009

The 2009 4th of July Star Spangled Sky went off with a BOOM again this year at the University of Northern Iowa. Early in the day, kids' games, a dunk tank and a band opened up the day. Parents crowded around games such as the inflatable boxing ring and the inflatable slide to catch a glimpse of their child having fun. Once darkness fell, on-lookers played with glow ropes and sparklers before the fireworks were ignited with a large noise and the bright lights of the explosions. There were several never seen before fireworks and also many other cool fireworks. Some of the notable fireworks were the smiley faces, a firework in the shape of a star, and giant fireball explosions.

A new addition to the excitement of the fireworks this year was a $10,000 raffle prize. Local Cedar Valley resident Kendall Bakker won the much anticipated prize money. Another prize given out was a loveseat, won by Barb Lyman-Kluck. Several other smaller prizes were given out too.

Thank you to everyone who supported the fireworks by purchasing tickets and coming out for the show! Join us again next year for the 2010 fireworks!
